What made me visit the Mumbai zoo?

The Penguins !

Lately, these Penguins have been making a lot of Buzz in the Indian Media!

Did you ever imagine Penguins in a hot and humid city like Mumbai? I don’t know about you but I never Imagined and this just intrigued me in visiting the Byculla Zoo!

As per the news, the Bombay Municipal corporation formally known as the BMC one of the richest civic body in Asia would spend around 5 Cr per year for next 3 years.

Visit to Barcelona Aquarium

I visited the Barcelona Aquarium few years back and therefore when I compare the Penguin Centre of Barcelona with the one in Mumbai, I must say that the BMC has done a great job by developing and maintaining the Penguin Centre in the heart of Mumbai City.

Of course, BMC has a good scope of revamping it to international standards with the Budget that it has!

What Animals are there in the Byculla Zoo?

As of now, the Byculla Zoo in Mumbai is home to hundreds of animals like the Bengal Tiger, Elephants, Heard of Deer, bloat of Hippos, jackals, sloth bear, monkeys.

The Bombay Municipal Corporation – the BMC plans on bringing in giraffe, zebra, white lion, black jaguar, chimpanzee, oryx, cassowary, ostrich, okapi, ringtail lemur and cheetah from abroad as per its phase 3 expansion plans of the Mumbai Zoo.

Best time to Visit the Byculla Zoo?

If you want to watch animals at the zoo in peace and without any hassle, I would recommend to visit the zoo during the weekdays before 12 PM (to avoid extreme heat and humidity) or in the evening from 4 PM (You might get some rush).

Weekends are very crowdy and therefore you won’t be able to avoid long entry queues!

Also due to Covid, limited entries are allowed in the Zoo and therefore it is advisable to visit the Mumbai Zoo during the Weekdays!
