Planning a trip from Mumbai to Alibaug? I have some exciting news to share with you. Three years back when I went to Alibaug, I had to use the public transport like Rickshaw or bus to reach Alibaug from the Mandwa Port, but this time, I went to Alibaug with my Car and this was all possible because of a new ferry service from Mumbai to Alibaug by M2M ferries.

Gone are the days when you had to drive for 3 to 4 hours from Mumbai to reach Alibaug. With the new M2M Ferries now you can cut short this time to just 1 to 2 hours.
With M2M Ferries, you are allowed to carry your own vehicle, be it a car, a bike or even a bicycle and this reduces your traveling time significantly.

M2M Ferries or the Ro-Pax Ferry is designed in such a way that it can accommodate 500 passengers and 150 vehicles. This will not only help you save your time but money and fuel as well.
The best part is that the M2M Ferries is operational through out the week and thereby providing a convenient way of commuting for people who travel daily from Mumbai to Alibaug for their daily work.
The M2M ferry operates between two ports, Bhaucha Dhakka Port in Mumbai and Mandwa Jetty in Raigad, so if you are in Mumbai your boarding point would be from Bhaucha Dhakka Port.

The time taken by M2M Ferries from Mumbai to Mandwa and Mandwa to Mumbai is just 1 hour.
Note – You would be required to arrive at the either of the ports 30 mins prior to the departure timings.
My Experience on the M2M Ferries
I had been to Alibaug three years back and back then, I took the normal ferry service which departs from the Gateway of India and it was way too risky as the boat was small and there were lot of passengers on board. Safety was a concern back then.
Also there was no scope to carry my vehicle that time. So I had to catch a bus from Mandwa Jetty to reach Alibaug.
But with start of Maharashtra’s first ever Ro-Pax ferry, now the journey from Mumbai to Mandwa has become more safe and comfortable.
Amidst the daily routine work and Covid-19 situation, I thought of taking a break and decided to go on an one day trip to Alibaug.
To avoid the use of public transportation due to Covid-19, I wanted to take my car along with me to Alibaug and this was when I came across M2M Ferries on the Internet.
I watched some videos on the YouTube and was really impressed with the overall services that M2M Ferries Private Limited had to offer.
I went on their website and to my surprise, it was way too easy to book the tickets. I booked the tickets for morning departure which was scheduled at 8:30 AM.
On the day of journey
I reached the boarding point – Bhaucha Dhakka port at 7:30 AM in the morning and since I was the second one to reach, I parked my car in the Queue and explored the port.
Boarding and Security check
After 15 to 20 mins, the boarding started. My body temperature was checked and then I was allowed to collect my boarding pass from the ticketing counter and after receiving the ticket, I was asked to park my car in a different queue for security check.
My car and the bags that I was carrying were checked thoroughly and post that I was allowed to board the vessel.
Note : Do carry your Driving License, Vehicle Registration Number Card and Vehicle Insurance Papers.
Facilities on M2M Ferries.
The facilities provided by M2M Ferries Private Limited are of International Standards. The main attraction on board is the luxurious Air Conditioned Cafeteria. Cafeteria offers a variety of delicious options in their menu at affordable prices.
Also, if you want to avoid the heat, you can sit inside the cafeteria throughout the journey and also the enjoy the splendid view.
I was little worried due to the covid-19 situation, but the precautionary measures taken by the management were up to the mark.
It was compulsory for all the passengers on board to wear a mask and also the management was making announcements related to safety and precautionary measures related to covid-19.

Overall, It was a delightful experience and I literally enjoyed those 50 mins, probably the best 50 mins of this chaotic year.
Do you remember the song – Pyar ki Kashti Mein from Kaho Na Pyar Hai? Though the ship is not as humongous as that one but the vibes were exactly the same!!

I’m not sure about the bus service but Mandwa Jetty being a Gateway to Alibaug, there would be bus/auto services available.
